Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) Program

Granada Elementary School uses the Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI) Program by Fountas and Pinnell to provide struggling students with intense, small group supplemental instruction in reading. LLI is designed to be used with small groups of students who need intensive support in grades K through 5+. It is a supplemental literacy intervention program for students who find reading and writing difficult. Goals of the program are to expand comprehension with close reading, increase reading volume, and to advance literacy learning of students not meeting grade level expectations in reading. Students are identified by teacher and assessment. Students will receive dedicated time weekly outside of the classroom with an intervention specialist.

Benchmark Assessment System

To determine which students will be placed in the LLI Program, students are administered the Benchmark Assessment System. This extensive assessment helps determine the students' reading levels and which areas they struggled with. The data generated from these assessments drive the instruction in the LLI Program.
