Behavior Expectations and Dress Code

Our goal at Granada is to help students be prepared for high school and be college and career-ready. One way is by teaching our students to be responsible, productive, and minimize things that are disruptive to learning.

 

Behavior expectations are reviewed schoolwide twice a year as well as within each classroom.  Some of our general expectations (but not all) are:

Granada Elementary School follows the Alhambra Unified School District (AUSD) Uniform Policy for students in Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade. While we encourage families to follow the district's uniform guidelines whenever possible, our primary focus is ensuring that every student is at school every day, on time, ready to learn. We never want concerns about obtaining a school uniform to become a barrier to student attendance.

 

We ask all students to follow the AUSD Dress Policy by wearing clothing that is safe, appropriate for school, and allows them to fully participate in learning and physical activities. At Granada, we embrace and celebrate the uniqueness of every student while maintaining a respectful and positive learning environment.

 

Families are encouraged to have students wear school uniforms and/or Granada spirit wear when able. Wearing uniforms or spirit wear helps build school pride, strengthens our sense of community, and can make busy mornings easier by simplifying the daily routine for both students and families.

 

AUSD Uniform Guidelines

• Pants, Shorts, Skirts, or Jumpers: Navy blue or khaki
• Shirts or Blouses: Navy blue, white, or school colors
• One-Piece Outfits: Navy blue, white, khaki, or school colors
• Cardigans or Sweatshirts: Navy blue, white, or school colors
• Coats or Jackets: Any color (we encourage families to write their child's name inside jackets and sweatshirts.)
• Shoes: Tennis shoes or other closed-toe, closed-heel shoes that allow students to safely and comfortably run, play, and participate in school activities.
