Principal's Message

Dear Granada Community,

As the incoming principal of Granada Elementary School. I am honored to have been given the opportunity to become part of the Granada community, I know that Granada School is a unique and special place that I am incredibly excited to become a part of once again.

I have been a proud employee of the Alhambra Unified School District for the past 25 years. I began my career with AUSD as a health assistant and moved on to serve as an office assistant while working on my Bachelor's Degree. Soon after, I moved on to serve as a special education teacher in a Special Day Class. Although I received great joy supporting students in the classroom, I accepted the opportunity to continue to serve the AUSD community as an instructional specialist in the District's Educational Services and Induction departments supporting new teachers entering this exciting and most gratifying profession. It was during this experience that I decided to take yet another challenge and obtained my administrative credential. Since then, I have served as Assistant Principal before moving on to Coordinator of Special Education and as Principal at Monterey Highlands Elementary. I am proud to now add Principal at Granada Elementary School to my career experience.

I consider my most important job to be that of a child advocate. I look forward to spending a lot of time with your children, getting to know their personalities, learning styles, and interests. I believe in the importance of celebrating their successes, small and large. My goal is to encourage them every day and let them know they are valued and have a special place in our school community so that they are healthy, happy, safe, and ready to learn. Not only am I excited to begin working with your children, but I look forward to the work we will do together. I am a true believer in the old proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child,” it is through our partnership and collaboration that we will continue to move our children forward to heights never seen before. I am excited to see your children through your eyes. I cannot wait to share with you the great things they accomplish.

Although I take great pride in my professional work, my greatest achievement comes not professionally, but personally, as I am a wife and also a mother of three: Cristian, Angel, and Trinity. I will work tirelessly to ensure all children have the best possible experiences while at  Granada School. Accordingly, I will be collaborating with Mr. Ng to ensure a smooth transition and opening in August. Once again, I am so thankful to have the opportunity to bring all that I have experienced and learned with me to your wonderful community. I look forward to getting to know you and your children.

Best Regards,

Rosa Soria, Ed.D
